Ethelbert, after crossing the english channel, arrived safely at Calais. Taking a bottle of mead and a fistful of beef, he left his boat where it was and made out into Calais.
It was weakly defended, a naval assault would see a straigt out street-fight for control, was Ethelbert's immediate thought. Stuffing the beef crudely into his mouth, he browsed the marketplace for more supplies to keep him going on his journeys.

After purchasing what he felt he needed, he made again on his way to foreign courts, his destination now the Allemani court.

Having spotted the Saxon spy roaming uninvited in a domain of the Frankish Kingdom, a Frank guard assigned to aid in administrative duties immediately informed the Regent of the man, and sent word to the Duke of Flanders to bolster his defenses for fear of an imminent Saxon invasion of the Kingdom.
