Using the newly acquired docks of Zara Qaragan sent out an emissary towards Rome. For some time he had sat and thought on the first emissary to come before he and his fellow Hun Leaders…. The Roman… He offered peace and recompense for the past and this intrigued Qaragan even if it had first insulted him. Battle in Illyria had brought to light many options and possibilities he once saw as beyond question.
This Hun Emissary also hoped to reach Rome before the escaped Illyrians did and had a chance to request aid and within a night the ship bearing the Emissary and a small guard of 20 Hunnic swordsmen docked and requested passage to speak with the Emperor and the Leader of Romes armies.

Avitas allowed the Emissary entry, wondering what the Huns, who had seemed unwilling to talk earlier, would want of him.

The Hun Emissary and 4 of his Guards entered the grand halls of the Roman Emperor and looked around at a sight no Hun had seen since the time the Great Attila visited and stayed in Rome for a year.
Stepping forward the Emissary bowed politely before emperor and then stood firm and straight preparing to address Avitas.
“Avitas Emperor and Leader of Rome, I am Bayan one of 3 lead Emissaries and Negotiators of the Hunnic Empire. Your own Emissary was told your proposal would be discussed and if feelings changed within our leading council we would contact you to speak further on the matter. I am sure are aware of this no?”

"Welcome Bayan of the Huns. What you say is correct, what word do you bring from the mouths of your masters?"

Bayan nodded in respect to the Emperors down to business frankness but slowly raised his hand in a request for indulgence. “If I may ,great Caesar, I have but one request before we begin. We Huns are a plains people at heart… We are of the open air and though many of us now take home in cities much like this we still prefer the open air to the confines of walls and a roof. If you will permit it may we walk in the open air as we discuss what I have come to say?”

"Of course we may walk in the open air. We have many gardens here in Rome, and walking there always lightens my spirits, especially in these dark times. Come, I will lead you to them." Avitas led the way into a garden filled with flowering plants, trim lawns, and the centrepiece, a large fountain, built long before christianity entered Rome, depicting several Gods of the pantheon. Pointing it out, Avitas said: "Outdated, but still beautiful. Much of Rome is like that these days." He sighed, and his eyes seemed to glaze over for a second, but then it was gone. He seemed to cheer up. "Well, let us continue."

Bayan nodded as he approached the fountain. He looked over it in silence for a moment and ran his hand over the white marble. “Stunning indeed, we have much artwork like this in Budapest since stability was brought back to our people.” Turning he smiled lightly to the Emperor but seeing his solemn face he sighed with pity and decided it best to get down to business.
“My Lord the Great Qaragan was at first insulted that Rome would approach us at all considering that your Empire played a large part in the assassination of his Grandfather The Great Attila and in so played a part in the temporary collapse of our Empire. It was of great Insult and if not for the other Tribal leaders he would have slain your Emissary and sent you back his head in a basket with his testicles filling the mouth.” That said Bayan laughed lightly at how the it sounded but again sighed and before continuing approached a bush of flowers to smell them.
“This time however has passed.” he continued. “Qaragan has been off to war and though it has been relatively simple to now it has none the less given him a broader view of the world and the politics of other kingdoms and empires.
Turning back to watch the emperor he allowed a moment of silence before ending off with “Qaragan has an offer indeed a proposal that could open the doors to future relations between our peoples.”

Pausing for thought, Avitas dipped his fingers in the waters of the fountain, feeling it's coolness on his fingers, he was awoken from these thoughts. "This sounds most interesting..." Said Avitas,"What is this proposal?"

Bayan nodded then finding a marble bench sat with a relaxing sigh. “In a word…. peace, at least to start with.” he said then looked to the blue sky.
Closing his eyes he listened to the birds chirp then again looked to the Emperor to judge his demeanor. “At this time the Hun empire has no interest in the West. No in fact our eyes look eastward and though no promise can be made that our eyes shall not turn westward at some point, for the time being we look not to your holy city or beyond. With that said I am authorized to speak of peace between us and possible trade agreements…”
Turning he stood again before folding his arms. “Great Caesar we know of your plight and how the Vandals have landed upon your peninsula. Understand that at this time we do not wish to take advantage of this and we would not wish to see the Christian Holy City to burn as I’m sure it would if it came into the hands of many of the others you call barbarians. So with that said please think on all this ….one needs to begin on a road to eventually reach its end… consider this a possible beginning to a unknown road.”
(ooc: honestly not one of my best posts but I’m sick and I could not think clear enough on how to word it I just hope you get the idea)

Caesar paused , and then said: "Peace between us would be good, and would be a weight off my mind. Perhaps it would lead to greater things? But anyway, trade would also be useful, especially if we could aquire some of your world reknowned horses!"

“Excellent” said Bayan and smiled. “But know if horses are to be involved in trades we must have assurances they will be treated respectfully. Horses to we Huns are sacred animals and live in communion with us… We have observed many peoples treat there animals quite disrespectfully and often horses are seen as merely animals to use in war or on the farm… something to ride and pull … something expendable.”
He laughed heartily then turned again to the Emperor. “Ahhh but we get ahead of ourselves… indeed we should perhaps define the ins, outs and conditions of out future relations, for in fact I know of a demand my master will have that you may find questionable if not unacceptable.”

"What would that demand be? I promise I will listen to it at least, and then I will make a decision as to it's acceptability. I'm sure that your lord would not suggest something that strange."

Bayan nodded in response and sat on the bench once more. “First I will speak on less peculiar conditions, I think it best to start with the most natural is that if this Peace and alliance is made Rome will not stand in the way of the Hun Empires dealings… this includes the expansion of our Empire and Rome will not take a side in any war against us. I assume since you know we are expanding eastward this includes the Eastern Empire. If you stand in our way or take an opposing stance against us this peace will be irrelevant and you shall automatically become our enemies… This is non-negotiable.”
He folded his arms in a matter of fact way and though he did not wish to be disrespectful he wished in his manner to convey that he was completely serious. “What say you to this condition?”

"Well, this I can expect. In fact the Eastern Empress does fear attack from you. As it stands, I will stay nuetral if such an event comes. Now, I planned an atatck on Slavic Illyria, though as that will block your expansion I will trade that province with another of yours for use as a colony in the East, or, alternativly I will take a negotioable sum of 18 Geld for Hungary to permanantly take control. So, your answer is if you seek to attack Eastern Rome I will not stand in your way as things stand." That is of course if the battle is won.

“As you have yet to attack Slavic Illyria and have no power base in the east it is, I think, premature to make any such demands as 18 Geld or one of out territories as a colony considering your situations with the Vandals being on your doorstep… So indeed I think an alternative action can be arranged… perhaps if Rome were to devote its armies to aid in the complete acquisition of Illyria for the Hun Empire and afterwards remain neutral between ourselves and the Eastern Empire then the Hun Empire may see it as the Honorable course to return said favor by devoting its army in helping Rome take back what territory they have lost to the oncoming invaders.” Bayan said in a tone both strong yet containing a willingness to continue negotiations.
Indeed Bayan was sent to make peace with Rome and though the reasons were many and all secret he was charged with keeping the lines of communication open for as long as possible in hopes of a diplomatic solution to both Empires problems.
Though it was well known that those of Rome and other so called civilized peoples considered the Huns to be barbarians and completely uncivilized, Qaragan and the rest of the Tribal council wished that in time and with such willing and educated negotiators such as Bayan within there ranks the world would soon see that Huns were indeed equal to all civilized and barbarian peoples and yet retained there past roots firmly without compromising expansion and continued progress in the future. Also they wished to show all that the Huns will not succumb to any race who think themselves superior….. Huns will Not Die…. Huns Will Not Loose…. Huns Will Rule the World….. The dream… The goal…. And be it through brutal force or talk and trade this would be realized.
